Small Miracles

I think the most profound instance of my healing was in February 2008. January 19, 2008 after a bone marrow biopsy prompted by an irregular blood count, my doctor called me at home. He said "Anthony, it does not look good." I had a great deal of leukemia in my bone marrow. For the first time I would have to spend weeks in the hospital. They were going to try a clinical trial and see what effect it had. After about two-and-a-half weeks I had another bone marrow biopsy. However, the results were the same.

For weeks after that I had to get many blood transfusions. Every other day I was getting platelets or red blood. I spent many hours in the inpatient outpatient clinic after being released from the hospital. It did not look good. It seemed that there was so much leukemia in my blood marrow that I was not producing my own platelets or red blood cells. Was this the end? I had been praying everyday. My family, friends and church were praying for me.

One day I was coming in for blood work. The nurse that was taking care of me that day asked me had I thought about getting a gift for Emma, my daughters, 16th birthday and 21st birthday? She said I should consider it, just in case. I told her that this was in GOD's hands and he would see me through this. On that day my counts began to come back up. Two days later I had a bone marrow biopsy and there was less than 1% Leukemia in my marrow. I had done a 180. All of a sudden I was in a much better state and this even surprised the doctor. I remember traveling to the clinic the morning before the biopsy and praying. I said "God, lets show the doctors what you can do; show them that you and only you can cleanse my marrow of this leukemia." That is what he did! It was truly a miracle!
